The Penistone line runs through an area of outstanding natural beauty. Villages and small towns along its route are connected not only by rail but also by an intricate and ancient network of footpaths and bridleways. Denby Dale sits at the centre and its Walkers Are Welcome group have devised a series of 10 new walking routes.  These trails connect villages and stations at points along the line from Dodworth to Berry Brow. The idea of Train Walks is to take an outward journey from Denby Dale and walk back, though this can be reversed to meet your needs.
